Allyship
CATEGORY: SOCIAL
Why:
Allyship is one of the most powerful ways to make our world better, and it is a skill that grows with practice and support.
Warm-Up:
Can you think of one part of you that is not traditional, however you think of that? Something about you, your family, or your identity that takes some explaining for others to understand?
Exploration:
To be an ally for someone means to actively support them, especially someone who is being excluded or bullied. Allyship is one of the most powerful ways we can make our world better, by lending our voice and our power to help someone to be treated fairly. There are many ways to be an ally, such as publicly calling out a bully. But it's also okay to be an ally in a quieter way, such as by becoming friends with someone who is being bullied. Can you think of a time when you stood up for someone else—or wanted to—or when someone stood up for you?
