Rejection
CATEGORY: SOCIAL
Why:
We can't avoid rejection. But we can learn how to deal with it in healthy ways.
Warm-Up:
Everyone is rejected sometimes, whether by a friend, or asking someone out, interviewing for a job, or more. What is one time you've been rejected?
Exploration:
Can you share a story of when you were rejected, how it felt, and what happened next? Rejection hurts—but there are healthy ways to respond. It's ok to distract yourself with something good in your life, like music you love. You may want to talk with people you trust. Or journal about it. Or do something you're good at to restore your confidence. In time, you might reflect on the rejection by finding the original need you had (like a friendship or a job) and then creating better ways to meet that need. The next time you get rejected, how would you like to respond?
