Vision Boards
CATEGORY: REAL WORLD
Why:
By considering and setting a vision for our futures, we get clearer about our hopes and position ourselves to notice ways to reach our goals.
Warm-Up:
How do you want your next year to look? We'll each create a Vision Board to answer this question: a visual description of our hopes, goals, and big questions for the next year. You can find images online, or create a paper version with cut-out images.
Exploration:
Creating a vision for your year means setting out hopes, goals, or big questions you want to explore. It’s powerful because it focuses our attention on what we want to create. It taps into the power of your attention: when you know what you want, you’ll be more likely to notice opportunities to step closer to those goals. As you create your Vision Board, include at least 3 goals that you can represent visually, and share the board with the group.
Additional Resources:
For younger or less organized students, you may want to create a template for their vision board, which they can use if they would like (or create their own). You could do this on paper or with an online tool like Google Slides. In either case, consider diving the available space into areas, and labeling them with the following categories of vision:
Something you’re already good at that you could get even better at
A skill you don’t yet have that you would like to learn
A new habit you would like to create
An experience you would like to have
A group you would like to be part of
A relationship you value and want to keep or make strong
Something good you could do for the world
A passion of yours you would like to explore
An adventure you would like to go on
